And it isn’t even noon yet, on a glorious day on Ambergris Caye, Belize

Good morning!
May all your days start inside your heart like this!

Today's sunrise was the show that just kept on giving. This was just a few moments later and a few feet down the beach.

And a bout a half-hour later, from the balcony, once the sun was up in the sky and shining back on all God's creatures, the boat pulled into view.

And what is a December day in Belize without a little (or a lot of) rain? Afew rain clouds moved in and out so quickly the drops barely had time to hit the ground.

Moppit and I took our favorite walk this morning, up the coast through Tres Cocos. The properties on the water have really recovered from Hurricane Earl. There is hardly a sign the damage done.

This "temporary" platform is under construction in Tres Cocos for a live New Years Eve concert, according to a local caretaker. He couldn't say anything more. "But now you know," he added with a grin. Now that is going to be something.

We were walking up the coast to Rose’s studio where Moppit and I picked up the Old Moncho 59, our golf cart, for a little Christmas shopping in town. Moppit loves riding in the golf cart. She will jump into almost any golf cart and look at me quizzically, as if wondering why I’m not joining her for a joy ride.

Life is pretty simple through the eyes of a dog.

While in town this morning, I picked up a package that my son Ryan sent to me on Oct. 19 from San Francisco — a bit over two months ago! It contained a pair of glasses and a very inexpensive Chromebook and had been sitting in a Miami shipping center for two months. Duty on that was $150 BZD. Ah, well. At least I can see again.

Speaking of which, if you live on Ambergris Caye and recently found a pair of glasses (bifocals) in a black container, they might be mine. Big improvement from the days when I used to misplace a whole golf cart…..

Shopping done, Moppit and I returned the golf cart to Rose around 11 a.m. and resumed our walk, this time down the coast, toward home.

Moppit and I spotted this big blue heron standing sentinel on a rock.. Moments after this photo, a pelican of similar size swooped by -- but you'll have to take my word for that!

Needless to say that by noon all this excitement had worn Moppet out. She was happy to just stretch out on a lounge chair and try to nap while waiting for Rose to come home.

You are so lucky to have Moppit! If you ever need a babysitter when I’m down there, I’m your woman!

Looks like Moppit has settled in nicely to her new home. Doggies are truly the most loyal and loving companions. Best wishes for a wonderful 2017 🙂
