Grand opening today: Yo Mama is so sweet . . . .

Two words in combination that will get a man’s glands salivating and his imagination fired up: “toppings bar.”

Yup, the words just reach deep into the primeval core and express all that is good in the world today. An abundances of choices, a multitude of tastes, a bevy of flavors, a … a … a …

You know I’m just talking about frozen yogurt, right?

That’s right. Yo Mama opened this morning at 11 a.m. on Barrier Reef Drive, right next door to Fido’s restaurant.

Rose and I were returning from a double-dip of yoga and Pilates around 12:30 p.m. today when we passed by and saw that Yo Mama has opened its doors to the public.

Since neither of us had eaten yet, the conclusion was simple: “Let’s call it breakfast.”

Coincidentally, one of the last things we did before leaving California to return here one month ago was go to a frozen yogurt/toppings bar with family and friends. Yeah, so we’re pros at this sort of thing.

Three machines await, each offering two flavors: blueberry/pomegranate and coconut,  strawberry and mango and chocolate and vanilla. You can lever down individual flavors or pull the middle lever and swirl two together.

The topping bar forces you to think rationally. This is where our hunting and gathering instincts kick in. What goes best with mango and coconut? Chopped nuts? Fresh fruit? Crumbled candy bars? Mini-oreo cookies? M&M’s? Gummi worms? Can I fill a cup with just toppings?

And another. Can you figure out which of these is Rose's and which is mine?

I did my bit for opening day, and in the name of research, went back a second time and refilled my cup. They charge by weight and I paid around $4-5 for each cup. Pretty good deal.

I can see undoing all that good yoga and Pilates a couple of times a week, with a cup of  frozen yogurt topped with Snickers bits, Oreo cookies and fresh  strawberries.

Oh yes I can.
